What is a COIDA letter of good standing?

It is a certificate from the Compensation Fund confirming your business is registered for workplace injury cover and that contributions are paid up. Buyers ask for it so they are not exposed if someone is hurt on their site.

Do I need COIDA if I have no employees?

If you genuinely employ nobody, COIDA registration does not apply to you. Many buyers still ask for proof, so the usual route is a letter or affidavit confirming you have no employees. Directors of a company who draw a salary do count as employees.

How long is a letter of good standing valid?

Typically twelve months, and it lapses if you fall behind on contributions or do not submit your annual return of earnings. Check the expiry date against the tender closing date, not against today.
